Fr. January 22: Huntington, NY: 10 AM - 1PM Huntington Cinema Arts Center presents the award winning documentary, Pink Smoke Over the Vatican, with Fr. Roy Bourgeois. Join for brunch beginning at 10 AM, followed by the film at 11 AM, with a discussion to follow. $15
 
 
 
Fr. Roy Bourgeois is the founder of The School of Americas Watch, a grassroots movement to close The School of the Americas, a military training camp housed at the Fort Benning Army Base in Columbus, GA. The SOA trains soldiers from Latin America in counter insurgency techniques, including torture. Soldiers trained at the SOA have been and still are responsible for perpetrating death and violence against the people of Latin America. For over 20 years, Roy has dedicated himself to the goal of closing the SOA and educating the public about U.S. foreign policy in Latin America.
        In recent years Roy's conscience has lead him on another related journey, supporting women's rights to ordination in the Catholic Church. As a human rights activist, Roy can't ignore the blatant sexism of the Catholic Church and is willing to risk excommunication in speaking out:"As men we say we are called to the priesthood.
