Epiphany Proclamation 2022

While a day like Christmas is fixed in our minds and on the calendars on December 25th, many of the important feasts of the Church year move, based    upon the date that Easter is set. Easter changes each year moving to the Sunday after the "Paschal Full Moon," and can fall between March 22 and April 25.

In ancient times before calendars were common, most people did not know the dates for the upcoming Liturgical year. On Epiphany Sunday, the upcoming dates were "proclaimed" after the gospel or after communion in this way:

World AIDS Day - December 1, 2021

For the last 40 years, Dignity/New York has worked and prayed for the day when AIDS will no longer be a health crisis affecting the world.

AIDS PRAYER

For those who have died of AIDS, we pray:

Merciful and loving God,
we ask you to look with favor
on our siblings and friends,
all over the world who have suffered and died of AIDS.

In their illness,
they shared in the suffering and death of Jesus.
May they now share in his resurrection
and be counted among your saints forever.

November 28, 2021
Dear Members and Friends of Dignity/New York,

With the arrival of Advent and the beginning of a new liturgical year, we naturally look back upon the past year. It has been a time of transition for our community. After more than fifteen months away, we cautiously returned to in-person liturgies at St. John’s in June, while also offering a Zoom option. Although slightly different in some ways, our liturgies continue to joyfully celebrate who we are as LGBTQ+ Catholics and allies.
